Oct. 6, 2011 Fall for Ridgefield Looking for some old-time fun the weekend of Oct. 14th, 15th, and 16th? Look no further than Ridgefield, CT. Whether you’re new to the beauties of “Connecticut’s #1 Town* or a long-standing admirer, this is a great time to fall in love again as restaurateurs, community groups and retail merchants get together to showcase all Ridgefield has to offer with food, music, shopping and more. And you won’t be alone – not by a long stretch. Ridgefield is one of those places where the whole town turns out to have a good time and be with friends. Judging by the schedule of events this year’s festivities look to be bigger and better than ever with something for everyone. There are lantern light tours at Keeler Tavern, a charity wine tasting at Cellar XV, haunted hay rides, a haunted house, face painting, pumpkin painting and even hot air balloon rides. Local high school musicians will be playing at the Town Hall on Friday evening and again Sunday afternoon. Athletes will participate in the 5k Great Pumpkin Run Saturday morning while a parade of antique cars will make its way down Main Street Saturday afternoon. Aficionados of New England architecture can enjoy a stroll down Ridgefield’s picturesque Main Street, stopping perhaps at the farmers market underway Sunday at the Lounsbury House, once home to CT Governor Phineas Lounsbury and now Ridgefield’s Community Center. If modern day art is more to your liking, check out the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, also located a short stroll from downtown Ridgefield where there will be a TV Jack O’Lanterns display. Opera lovers can hear a Donizetti opera Saturday at the Ridgefield Playhouse via The Met Live in HD while on Sunday the musical entertainment turns to Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane. Many of the events are free and do not require advance tickets or reservations
