Ridgefield Facts and Figures

Looking for the neighborliness of a small town but the cultural, entertainment and shopping activities of a much larger town?  Welcome to Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Quintessentially New England, with historic homes lining a picturesque Main Street and stone walls still marking the farm fields of long ago, Ridgefield offers its 24,000+ residents a lifestyle that combines the best of many worlds. Top-rated schools, a wide array of recreational facilities and a community spirit that encourages involvement at all ages are among the features that make Ridgefielders proud to call this their home.

Begin a stroll of Main Street at Ballard Park where the local garden clubs maintain a stunning floral display, children play on the playground, and outdoor concerts and craft shows are held during the summer.  Walk past stores that provide daily conveniences as well as boutiques with specialty goods and restaurants to please a wide array of tastes..

Proceed past the Ridgefield Community Center, once home to Phineas Lounsbury, a former governor of Connecticut; stop by the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art for a look at cutting edge art and then stroll a few doors south to see Ridgefield’s oldest home, built in 1715 by a local minister.

A bit further along Main Street look for the cannonball lodged in the north wall of the Keeler Tavern during the Revolutionary War and, across the street, see Ridgefield’s landmark, a fountain designed by architect Cass Gilbert who once lived in town.  Along the way admire the 18th and 19th century Federal and Georgian-style homes that remain as vital residences today.

And this is just a beginnning. I invite you to learn more about Ridgefield through pictures, links to local resources and a sampling of facts and figures.
